rain rain go away

Mother nature is really messing with my plans. Steve was planning on pouring the footings and foundation for the addition this week, but it has been raining and snowing so much that it just isn't going to happen. He started to dig the hole, but it got so muddy that the backhoe was sinking.
This is all we have so far. Weird optical illusion, it's actually about 3 feet deep but it doesn't look like it in the picture.

Jacob was making the most hilarious faces today. It turns out he doesn't like fruit, weird. This is the face he makes whenever I give it to him.
Sorry the pictures aren't better. It's hard to feed him and take a picture at the same time.

247

Today is a big day. Jacob is 247 days old today. He spent123 days in the hospital, so today he has been home longer than in the hospital. I'm pretty excited about it. We celebrated be giving him his first taste of fruit (bananas). Up until now he has only had vegetables and a little bit of meats. I thought how would love the sweetness, but he didn't seem to care. Kind of anticlimactic.

He pulled out his NG tube right before this picture. When he rips the tape of, it always takes some of his skin off with it, that's why his cheek is so red. Still, I think he looks pretty good tubeless.

Jeremiah in his natural habitat

We are so excited about spring. We can't wait to get outside. Jeremiah has been running around with his hat on, and insists that Jacob wear his too.

I made a cake yesterday. It was the first time I have ever had buttercream roses work. It was Steve's week to go to church (Jacob can't go so we take turns), so I made it while he was gone. It only looked like this for a few minutes after he got home.

New addition

Ha ha. No, I'm not pregnant. We have decided to add on to the house. We were planning on adding on when we first built the house, but I never thought it would happen this soon. I know it doesn't look like much now, but we should be getting started in the next month.

Jacob is doing good. We saw the Dr last week. Jacob is only on the feeding tube 6 hours a day now, and he said if he is still doing well at the next visit we might be able to get rid of the feeding tube. He is over 17 lbs now, and rolls everywhere. He gets into everything. It's amazing how kids always find things they shoudn't.
He is still working on sitting. He can't stay up more than a few seconds without the boppy.
He loves eating, especially magazines.

Jeremiah is definately two. He is so moody. He has decided that the only food worth eating is ramen noodles. I really hope that phase ends soon. I just can't feel good about him having ramen for breakfast.

I am going a little crazy being stuck in the house all of the time. Jacob still can't go out, pretty sure respiratory season is never going to end. Anyway, I decided I needed a hobby so I decided to make a wedding cake for fun. Don't worry, we won't be eating cake til the end of time, I used styrofoam cake dummies. Actually, Steve was a little upset that there wasn't any real cake in there.

jaguars, teeth and croup

So Jeremiah and I were playing a fun little game last night. I would throw his toy jaguar into the air, catch it, and he would count how many times I did it. He is really good at counting up until 10 and then he kind of gets lost. So he made it to 15 and then he didn't know anymore so he yells jaguarteen. It was pretty cute.

Jacbo has been having a rough couple of weeks. He has croup. I thought it was one of those things that was bad for a few days and then it was over, but apparently not. He has been sick for 16 days now, and is just starting to get better. He coughs so hard that he throws up, plus he is refusing to eat much of anything, which stresses me out a little. He is also getting his first tooth. Poor little man. He hasn't thrown up yet today, so I'm really hoping that it will be gone in a few days.

he-man woman hater

Jeremiah was pretending to be asleep today, so I asked him if he needed a nap. He said "Miah doesn't need a nap, girls need naps." Wow.

6 months

I can't believe it, Jacob is 6 months old now. It doesn't feel like he should be that old, but at the same time it feels like we have been dealing with Dr's, meds, feeding problems, etc forever. He has managed to stay off of the TPN for a few weeks now, and the Dr is really hopeful that he is going to be able to stay off of it. He isn't growing nearly as well without it, but he is still getting bigger. We took another trip down to Primary Children's last week for an ultrasound, and the blood clot in Jacob's neck hasn't changed at all. The radiologist thinks the vein is probably going to be permanently blocked. I don't know what that means longterm, but in the meantime Jacob still has to be on blood thinners, which I am not thrilled about. Hopefully it will only be for another month.

home again

Well, we are home again. Jacob is on blood thinners until the clot in his neck is gone. The Dr really didn't want to put in a new PICC because of all of the problems he has had with them, so they increased Jacob's feeds a lot faster than we had been doing, and we went home without TPN. Jacob is losing weight, so hopefully Iwill be able to increase his feeds enough in the next few days to get him enough calories. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
